Linkin Park

the linkin park concert at the joe was everything i expected it to be. they sounded absolutely awesome live. our seats were better then i expected, which is always a plus. but that's what you get when you do pre-sale and pay a few extra bucks for premium seating. my son is worth it. just to see him jamming and singing along to all the songs made my day.

we headed downtown a little early for dinner and just to hang out for a bit. making a stop at lafayette coney island for a few dogs and fries (well just fries for me, i don't do hot dogs, lol), and then headed to trappers alley for some coldstone at greektown, mmmm.

took the people mover to the joe, it was K's first ride on it. i could tell he enjoyed it, definitely something out of the norm for him. of course S was much more excited about riding it last summer but that's just her...shows all sorts of emotion, sometimes it's not always a good thing either ;-D lol.

the joe was already pretty lively. we got there just a few minutes before the first opening band hit the stage. i actually really liked the first band. the singer was hilarious, stumbling all over his words from being nervous. i didn't care, he had the cutest accent. everyone knows i have this thing for foreign accents. the name of the band was does it offend you, yeah? still have to see if i can find any of their songs to download. had a great beat.

the next band to hit the stage was pendulum. they were alright. didn't think they were any special really. nothing stood out and i have no intention of looking for any of their songs/albums. i'm not saying they were horrible, just not that memorable.

linkin park finally hit the stage just before 9, opening with "new divide". very strong start to the show and their energy only went up from there. played all the songs i wanted to hear including my favorite song "shadow of the day". i have to admit they were well into the night and still hadn't done it. thought for sure i was gonna get "stp'd" (yes i will forever use that term now thanks to you M :-*). at one point M tried betting with me if they were even going to do it, which i declined of course. i always seem to lose bets with him...

what i found quite amusing was how many phones were lit up on the floor and up in the stadium. i'm pretty sure the 3 teenage girls in front of us watched the whole concert recording through their phones, taking pictures and chatting with people about where they were and what they were doing. i've been seeing this trend much more now with all the smart phones available.

i know i'm guilty of taking pictures, recording a few minutes of my favorite song and uploading a few pictures to facebook before linkin park hit the stage, but at least i watched 95% of the concert with my own eyes. i honestly think that we are getting so wrapped up with the technology available, the true meaning of going to a concert is getting missed. come on people, take a picture...record a song and then put it down! enjoy the live show, that's what you are there for!

with that being said, tuesday was just an absolutely great day all around. i haven't had that much fun in a long time and the smile never left my face. it would be great if every day was like this...of course it would be a little pricey if i was getting concert tickets for every night of the week, lol. this made me look forward to all the concerts this summer even more!
